Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was born March 10, 1949. She is an American investor and speaker as well as consultant. In 2001, she launched The Corcoran Group in New York City. The company was sold to the company to NRT for $66 million. In the following months she resigned from the company. Corcoran was one of the first Shark Tank investors. She was a regular on every episode of ABC's Shark Tank. She has participated in 53 deals since February 2020. The largest was a $350,000 investment to provide 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second of 10 children in a middle class Irish-Catholic family. [8] Her mother, Florence, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father through Corcoran’s childhood. Her family depended sometimes on food deliveries from the local grocer who would deliver free food. Corcoran remembers her father as a man who often drank too much and did her mother a disservice and sneer, especially when he was drinking. Corcoran was a struggling student throughout school. She later discovered that she had dyslexia. Corcoran began high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after having attended an Catholic primary school. Corcoran who was in the process of failing several courses in her first year of high school, was transferred to Leonia High School.
